Earlier this year, BC Care Providers Association signed the Declaration to Psychological Health and Safety in Healthcare, “a commitment to advancing the protection and promotion of mental health in the workplace and in alignment with the principles of the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.”
Healthcare workers are more likely to miss work due to illness or disability than people in other occupations. They also face higher rates of burnout and compassion fatigue. Psychologically healthy workplaces improve staff engagement, well-being and satisfaction, and also lead to better and safer care for patients.
This video from the Mental health Commission shows why we need psychological health and safety in healthcare settings, and why your organization should sign the Declaration to Psychological Health and Safety in Healthcare.
