#BCCPA2018 Session: Words Matter!

People are increasingly aware that language matters when it comes to continuing care, and this is no accident. Advocates for the dignity of seniors have been making the case that we must pay attention to how we speak about older adults, especially those who are receiving support.

Join three of B.C.’s most prominent advocates for appropriate language in seniors care for a dynamic discussion on why words matter.

Panelists will look at the use of terminology in seniors care, including how language such as tsunami, facility, bed blockers and demented can effect seniors and the continuing care sector wrought large. The panel will also speak to what all of us can do to be more intentional about the language we use.

Words Matter! | May 29 | 9 a.m.  – 9.50 a.m.
