#BCCPA2018 Plenary: Finding the true meaning of person-centered care

At BCCPA’s 2018 Annual Conference in Whistler, the opening  plenary will focus on what the term “person-centered care” really means. The panel will discuss how to best incorporate personal preferences into the choices they make each day, as well as balance this with what is realistic or achievable. A person-centered care approach means seeking the perspectives and views of residents/clients as well as those providing care.

Plenary 1 is sponsored by Essity.

The panel will also discuss some of the barriers with regards to providing person-centered care including those from staff, the organization, or more broader health system challenges, and will discuss ways to address these barriers such as staff education, reinforcement, stakeholder collaboration, supportive leadership, as well as regulatory or other changes.

We will look at ways to improve seniors care and quality of life through innovation and providing culturally appropriate care.

Daniel Fontaine, CEO of the BC Care Providers Association, will be the moderator for this plenary.
