Feb 19th, 2018 (Burnaby, B.C.): In recognition of the thousands of workers who take care of B.C. seniors, the Province of British Columbia has declared February 19th, 2018 as BC Seniors Care Providers Day.

“Dedicated seniors’ care workers across the province deserve to be honoured and celebrated for the work they do,” says BC Care Providers CEO Daniel Fontaine.

“The proclamation is a fitting way to recognize their commitment to providing the best possible care for our seniors.”

The declaration coincides with the 5th Annual BC Care Awards which will be taking place in Victoria. The awards recognize excellence in the delivery of seniors’ care in both home care and residential care, in promoting and supporting workplace safety, and as well to acknowledge longstanding leadership in the seniors’ care sector.

This year, the Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, will be attending the ceremony, and Minister of Health, the Honourable Adrian Dix will be presenting the awards for long-service, care provider of the year (home care and residential care), and safety champion.
