Video: How the #GiftofTime can combat social isolation among seniors

The holidays can be particularly hard for seniors who are socially isolated.

Regular visits with a senior living alone or in care over the holidays can help combat serious health effects caused by loneliness and social isolation such as depression, cognitive decline, heart disease and stroke. Seniors who are more connected with their family and friends lead longer and healthier lives.

There are many ways we can brighten the lives of lonely seniors, but the best gift we can give them is the #GiftofTime.

On December 1st, BC Care Providers Association launched its first-ever radio promotional campaign reminding listeners to give seniors the “gift of time” during the holiday season.

The video below is a reminder to people to take time out of their busy holiday schedules to visit seniors in their homes. Spread the word!
