Sending our best wishes from the board and the staff at BC Care Providers Association to everyone working in B.C.’s continuing care sector. We know there are many of you who are working over the BC Day long weekend providing care for our elderly citizens, and we would especially like to thank all of the staff providing frontline care, as well as B.C.’s first responders and those fighting wildfires across the province.
We are very fortunate to live in this beautiful and diverse province. It is being hit particularly hard this summer by wildfires brought on by the extended warm and dry weather. This can be particularly challenging for seniors. We would ask all of you to take a moment to contact and check in on elderly friends, family and neighbours to make sure they are coping in this warm weather and with the smoky conditions affecting many communities. We have provided some information on how to recognize signs of stress due to the heat in an earlier post. If you encounter anyone who is struggling, please contact 9-1-1 emergency services.
Please note that our offices will be closed for the holiday on Monday, August 7th.
