Record Attendance for Sold Out Conference

It’s official! The BCCPA has sold out its 39th Annual Conference which is set to start on Sunday May 29th. In addition to a record 450+ delegates there are a number of other interesting facts about this year’s conference. This includes that it has attracted the largest student delegate registration in our history and a delegation from China who be on hand to network and learn from industry leaders about BC’s continuing care sector. For the first time ever, we also sold out the Fairmont Hotel and were required to send guests to the nearby Four Season’s Hotel!

As well as opening remarks from the Hon. Terry Lake and Dawna Friesen, the anchor for Global National, there will be a number of top-level speakers and panelists from across Canada and from as far away as Great Britain. The pre-conference events kick off on Sunday with the Policy Cafe and the SafeCare BC Safety Den events. Across town over 90 golfers will be participating in the BCCPA Annual Golf Tournament in Honour of Tom Frame.conference presentation

So far the weather forecast is looking nice for our rooftop reception taking place on Sunday evening. Weather permitting the Fairmont Chateau Whistler staff will be setting up a number of fire pits in order to allow guests to sit comfortably outdoors and enjoy the beautiful view of our coastal mountains at sunset.

Details regarding the big Caresino event were unveiled last week. One lucky delegate is set to win a trip for two to Las Vegas on Monday evening with two others winning a luxury stay at the Fairmont Hotel and a $150 gift certificate for the River Rock Casino in Richmond. Over 7000 specially designed Caresino chips have been purchased and will be delivered to select exhibitors in order that they can give them away in the exhibit hall on Monday.

Visit as many of the exhibitors as possible in order to collect 25 chips, then exchange them for a ballot in order to participate in our draw to win one of our prizes valued at over $1,500. The more chips you collect, the greater chance you’ll have to win a trip to the Las Vegas strip! Delegate bags will include a full listing of participating exhibitors and a complimentary chip to get you started!

plenary session“We’re thrilled with the response to this year’s conference,” says Daniel Fontaine, CEO for the BC Care Providers Association. “There has been an incredible momentum building over the last few years and it is manifesting itself up at Whistler next week.”

At 8:25 am on Monday morning the BCCPA will be retiring our current logo. It will be replaced by a fresh new look which will be revealed live in the main hall. A new membership promotion video will also be released in conjunction with the new brand reveal.

“We’ve undergone a number of significant changes in our organization the last while so it only seemed appropriate that so too should our overall look and feel,” says Fontaine. “Our team thought the best place to unveil the new logo was in front of our membership as part of the official opening ceremonies.”

The Annual Conference has also attracted a record number of sponsors this year. To view a full listing please click here.

“It would be impossible to put on a conference this size without the generous support of our sponsors and exhibitors,” says Fontaine. “Our sector owes a debt of gratitude to companies like Angel Accessibility Solutions who stepped up to the plate to become our title sponsor this year.”

For tech savvy delegates, you will want to download the BCCPA conference app. Whether you are an Apple, Android or Blackberry user, you are now able to download our conference app and get all the information you need through your smartphone or tablet. The app includes a full listing of conference events, exhibitors and an array of other useful information.

“I want to provide a big thanks to all the registered delegates for helping to set the stage for what we anticipate will be the biggest and best conference ever,” says Fontaine.
