Earlier this week Leonore Pickering, Executive Director for Hawthorne Seniors Care Community made an appearance on Global TV’s Morning News. Joining her on air was Bonnie Van Drimmelen, Heart of Hawthorne Foundation Vice-Chair. They were invited as special guest of Global’s Kaitlyn Herbst as part of their Month of Giving Back program highlighting organizations who do philanthropic and charity work throughout BC.
Morning News host Steve Darling asked Bonnie what got her interested in supporting Hawthorne. She reports that she has been a volunteer since 1980 when she worked with Kinsmen in Port Coquitlam and used to go over to Hawthorne, particularly at Christmas time. “The Gala really caught my attention because I have always had a thing for seniors and giving.”
