Minister Terry Lake Presenting BC Care Awards

bc care awards logoWe are pleased to announce that the Hon. Terry Lake, Minister of Health will be providing opening remarks at the BC Care Awards taking place in Victoria on February 19th. Minister Lake will also be presenting the three awards recognizing outstanding service in the continuing care sector of BC.

“BC’s health care system, like the individuals we are honouring today, follows the principles of caring for those who cared for us and supporting those who need our help,” said Health Minister Lake. “I look forward to attending this year’s BC Care Providers Awards and for the opportunity to celebrate the commitment and dedication of these very deserving health care professionals.”

Earlier this month the BCCPA Awards & Recognition Committee finalized the three outstanding individuals and winners of the inaugural BC Care Awards. The deserving recipients will be honoured at the BC Care Awards in the presence of invited guests which includes cabinet ministers, MLAs, BCCPA members and other key stakeholders.

“The three individuals we have chosen each demonstrate outstanding dedication and a passion for the work they do,” says Daniel Fontaine, BCCPA CEO. “They continuously go above and beyond, set the bar high, and make a difference in the countless lives they touch. They encapsulate exactly what it is meant to be a care provider.”

The three recipients are:

  • Karen Mac- BC Care Provider of the Year

Awarded to a front-line care provider employed by one of our members who has demonstrated a commitment to quality, compassion and excellence in delivering care to one or more of our residents and/or clients.

  • Jane Devji – Ed Helfrich Long Service Award

Awarded to a member owner/operator or a member employee/contractor who has a 15+ year industry track record of developing and delivering quality care for individuals in care

  • Louise Johnson- Innovation of the Year

Awarded to a member care provider or one of their employees who can demonstrate an innovation they have developed or introduced within the sector to improve the quality of care delivered.
