BC Care Providers Association is pleased to announce the third round of funding for the Seniors Safety and Quality Improvement Program (SSQIP) is now open.
Care homes that have not previously applied—or have not yet used up their funding from the first and second period— are encouraged to apply. Providers have until May 21st to submit an application.
SSQIP, managed by BCCPA, allows long-term care home operators to apply for new equipment intended to enhance safety and quality of life for seniors. Those approved may receive up to $500 per publicly-funded resident.
The SSQIP fund is overseen by an advisory group, which includes representatives from the provincial government, BCCPA, Denominational Health Association, and SafeCare BC.
$2.6 million was allocated during the first period of funding in August 2018, following which BCCPA opened a second round of applications, and approved $4.4 million in funding.
The third call for applications may be the last as BCCPA will allocate the remaining funds available from the $10 million grant from the Ministry of Health during this period.
BCCPA plans to apply for additional funding to continue the program, and expand it to include assisting living.
