Launch your career in senior care: Free training at Vancouver Community College

Are you interested in starting or advancing a career supporting older people in the healthcare sector? Consider registering for the Supportive Care Assistant program offered by Vancouver Community College.

Through the Supportive Care Assistant training program, eligible British Columbians can receive 10 weeks of training to prepare them to enter the healthcare field in non-clinical supportive care roles and/or pursue further education in the healthcare field.

This program combines online and in-person training. The online portion is self-paced and accessible through our learning platform, while the in-person training will be conducted at VCC’s downtown campus. Additionally, the program includes a 3-4 week unpaid work experience placement.  The program covers topics such as:

  • Professionalism and collaboration
  • Client and family-centred care
  • Safe and supportive assistance
  • Inclusive communication
  • Skills for success

The program is tuition-free. VCC received funding for the delivery of the Supportive Care Assistant program through the Future Skills Grant program. This funding was provided by the Province of British Columbia.
