#BCCPA2020: What are your tough questions about dementia care and COVID-19?

Each day, BCCPA and EngAge BC members strive to support people living with dementia in a way which is compassionate, creative, and safe. COVID-19, and the need to implement infection prevention controls, however, has added incredible complexity to how this is done. For example, enforcing social distancing measures, and supporting optimal hand washing both pose significant challenges amongst people with cognitive impairment. Restrictions to family visitations and the use of PPE further complicate a matter which was never straightforward to begin with.

BCCPA’s 2020 conference, COVID-19: What Set B.C. Apart? will include an expert panel, which will share their learnings and troubleshoot participant’s questions about what caring for people living with dementia looks like during a global pandemic which has profoundly shaken the continuing care sector.

The session will be moderated by Adrienne Alford-Burt, Executive Director, The Village Langley, and will include the following multidisciplinary panelists:

Prior to this session attendees are invited to take advantage of this panel’s expertise by anonymously submitting their most pressing questions about caring for people living with dementia as we face COVID-19. Questions can be sent to Rebecca Frederick at rebecca@engageseniors.ca. Please include which panelist you would like to direct your question toward.
