Fire Sprinkler Safety Meetings

Fire-Sprinkler-3
Over 20 stakeholders gathered at BCCPA office to discuss fire sprinkler safety in BC care homes

In the wake of the tragedy in a L’Isle Verte, Quebec care home, the BCCPA called together all the key stakeholders in BC for a meeting to discuss fire safety. In attendance were representatives from the Ministry of Health, Regional Health Authorities, Union of BC Municipalities as well as fire officials and other industry representatives.

To learn more about the meeting, you can visit on the following post on our website.

The BCCPA has called another meeting in early May to get a progress report. The Ministry of Health has hired a consultant to catalogue the fire safety readiness of each care home in BC. It is our hope that once this report is complete, the entire report will be made available to the public.

At the May meeting, we hope to determine next steps as to what might need to be undertaken to ensure the continued safety of seniors in care. We will report out on the outcomes of the meeting in a future website post.
