Lunch & Learn: Does Watching Move the Needle? Dashboard Use, CIHI Outcomes, and One Home’s Story
Pressure injury identification and management is not only a dimension of British Columbia’s Long Term Care Quality Framework Matrix across Residential Care facilities, but also a central quality indicator for operators, publicly reported by CIHI and embedded in facility Quality Management Programs.
This session presents PointClickCare’s study of the relationship between Skin & Wound (S&W) dashboard utilization and CIHI new pressure injury rates across British Columbia’s Residential Care facilities, testing the hypothesis that homes with the strongest dashboard engagement — High Views / High Time users — achieve lower rates of pressure injuries than users with less engagement or non-users, in a stepwise dose-response pattern. Presenters will walk through the methodology and the utilization tiers, then ground the findings in the story of one BC home whose outcomes tracked the hypothesis closely.
The session closes with review of the skin and wound module as well upcoming enhancements to the Skin & Wound module. Attendees will leave with a clearer view of how resident-level wound documentation and population-level oversight translate into measurable outcomes, and how to apply that evidence to their own quality improvement priorities.
