BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) is bringing its popular Care to Chat series to Kelowna this May for a session on Climate Change Preparedness. This timely session will feature a panel of experts including Dr. Chris Buse, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University (SFU).
Dr. Buse has an extensive background studying and specializing in the health impacts of climate change and the health system response. Dr. Buse was notably the scientific lead for B.C.’s first ever provincial health risk and resilience assessment and continues playing a health advisory role to the Ministry of Emergency Response and Climate Readiness, supporting their disaster risk reduction strategy. His current CIHR-funded research is working with health emergency management staff to understand leading practices in occupational mental and physical health promotion for health system practitioners responding to emergency events across rural and remote areas of B.C.
Join us as Dr. Buse brings his insights to the conversation on climate preparedness and emergency response in long-term care and assisted living!
