Eric Guimmayen

Eric has been an important part of the Rest Haven Lodge (RHL) care team for over 17 years, embodying a passion for senior care, especially person-centered care. As a specialized spa attendant, Eric transforms weekly baths into personalized “spa” experiences that residents cherish. His compassion and creativity ensure even the most hesitant residents feel comfortable and valued.

Eric goes above and beyond by adjusting his schedule to residents’ preferences, staying late, or skipping breaks to provide unrushed, meaningful care. He fosters trust with residents, such as helping one overcome a two-year bathing aversion, and another conquer a fear of water through thoughtful gestures like playing her favorite song. Eric also mentors new staff, updates care plans meticulously and re-arranges schedules to accommodate beauty salon visits. His dedication, kindness, and innovation make him an indispensable part of the RHL team.

“We have a resident who declines to be bathed by anyone but Eric. If Eric is on holidays or away from work on this resident’s scheduled bath day, this resident will “wait” for Eric to return before accepting his bath.” – Nominator
