Care to Chat season 10 wraps up with Tech Talk

On April 20th, Care to Chat, Season 10 wrapped up with an engaging discussion on the new and emerging technologies which have the potential to fill the gaps in our strained healthcare system. Moderated by Best Buy Health Director, Sara Aghvami, Tech Talk: How can the care sector incorporate new and emerging technologies? featured panelists Misha Jadoo (Implementation Specialist at Arjo), Angela Brooks (Senior Lead at Future of Aging and Vancouver Chapter Ambassador for Aging2.0), and Jabir Nathu (Co-Founder of Resident Views).

Panelists highlighted promising technologies, and discussed opportunities for existing and emerging solutions to become more commercially viable. Panelists noted that this is particularly important in the seniors care sector where funds and resources are strained. They also spoke about tools to improve engagement and safety, as well as supports to enable seniors to receive care and support from their homes.

Technology was also discussed as a means to improving administrative efficiency and supporting health human resources in areas such as staffing and training. For instance, the use of virtual reality training platforms can help students prepare better for front-line roles and can facilitate the training of students who live in remote areas.

Participants advocated for a more human-centred approach, pointing to the need to include residents and staff in the process of technological integration.

Thank you to our 2022-23 Care to Chat sponsors who have made these conversations possible!
