BC Care Awards 2019: What A Celebration!

The board and staff at BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) are feeling immensely proud to have partaken in one of the best celebrations of our province’s seniors’ care providers in Victoria this week.

We refer to the occasion of the 6th Annual BC Care Awards, where BCCPA we honoured five deserving recipients of the awards. The ceremony on Tuesday evening was deemed to be among the “hottest tickets” in the capital during the week, with approximately half of the Members of the Legislative Assembly, key Ministry of Health staff, several BCCPA service provider and commercial members, the award winners and their spouses or family members in attendance.

“I am extremely grateful to everyone who took time out of their busy lives—especially our Minister of Health Adrian Dix and his colleagues in the Legislature—for their integral part in this celebration of seniors’ care providers,” says BCCPA CEO Daniel Fontaine. “When we first launched the Care Awards six years ago, I hoped it would become the success it has become.”

The photo gallery embedded below gives an excellent sense of both the number of guests in attendance, as well as the spirit of the evening.

On Wednesday, February 20th, the Government of British Columbia proclaimed BC Seniors’ Care Providers Day. It allowed for the occasion of following the BC Care Awards with a memorable gathering on the steps of the BC Legislature for a photo featuring Premier John Horgan, among dozens of MLAs, health care assistants, BCCPA representatives and, of course, our award winners.

“I would like to publicly thank both Premier Horgan and the Hon. Adrian Dix for showing so much clear public support for those who work in seniors care,” adds Fontaine. “It is tremendously meaningful for not only the winners and their loved ones, but all of their colleagues too.”
