Concerts in Care “40 for 40” BCCPA celebration wrapping up with final performances in Burnaby and Delta

After a successful tour around the province, BCCPA’s Concerts in Care “40 for 40” project is coming to an end with final performances in Burnaby and Delta on November 13.

Health Arts Society’s Concerts in Care brings professional music performances to seniors in long-term care homes and assisted living sites. Health Arts Society organized over 40 live performances at care homes on Vancouver Island, the BC Interior, the Kootenays, and the Lower Mainland, which were sponsored through a grant from the BC Care Providers Association.

The final performances take place on November 13 at Willingdon Care Centre in Burnaby at 10.30 a.m., and at Augustine House in Delta at 2.30 p.m.

Since 2006, Health Arts Society has delivered over 8,000 professional music performances at health care facilities throughout BC.

The value of music for seniors is widely known.  Research show that live music improves residents’ moods, promotes socialization and pierces dementia.

Although BCCPA’s program has come to an end, Concerts in Care are available to care homes all year round.

“We are pleased to have provided the forty concerts to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the BC Care Providers Association,” says David Lemon, Founder and Executive Director, Health Arts Society.

“BCCPA has supported the concept of Concerts in Care, and we look forward to providing Concerts in Care series in the homes of BCCPA members on a regular basis.”

Contact Health Arts Society if you would like to organize a series of concerts for residents at your care home.
