SafeCare BC announces Dhalla as Acting CEO

SafeCare BC has announced that after a comprehensive search Saleema Dhalla, their current Director of Workplace Health and Safety Programs, is assuming the role of Acting CEO for SafeCare BC. Saleema will be leading SafeCare BC in this role during the maternity leave of our current CEO, Jennifer Lyle. Saleema has already transitioned into this role, and is being mentored by Jennifer until September 15.

Although she is not leaving quite yet, the staff celebrated Jennifer this week with a congratulatory card and home-made cupcakes.

“I am very excited by this opportunity, as we are about to begin work on our new three-year strategic plan,” says Saleema. “Over the coming year, I look forward to working with our staff, Board, and partners in continuing to support our members and strive for injury free and safe working conditions.”

Saleema completed her Masters of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene in 2010 at the University of British Columbia. She began her career in the geochemical industry, implementing a safety program to account for a diverse range of occupational exposures and improve worker safety. She has designed and executed systems at the provincial and national level to reduce workplace injuries and improve employee well-being.

A search is underway to find someone to take on the acting role of Director, Workplace Health and Safety Programs.
