BC’s Care Providers Recognized in Special Provincial Proclamation
Feb 20, 2017 (Burnaby, B.C.): In recognition of the caregivers who provide a valued service to seniors, the BC Government has declared Feb 20th as Senior Care Providers’ Day. The declaration coincides with the 4th Annual BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) Awards ceremony taking place in Victoria which recognizes excellence and innovation in the sector.
“This is a very special way to acknowledge the amazing efforts of so many caregivers who provide quality care to seniors each and every day,” says Daniel Fontaine, CEO for the BCCPA. “They are truly unsung heroes who fulfill such an important role in our society and are often not recognized for their efforts.”
The proclamation was initiated by Linda Reimer, MLA for Port Moody-Coquitlam. Reimer plans to deliver a special Member Statement in the Legislature later today in recognition of care providers working in BC.
“I’m proud to have played a role in recognizing a group of individuals who provide amazing care for our seniors in order to improve their quality of life,” says Reimer. “These workers are the backbone of the home and community care sector and provide a valued service that deserves our appreciation.”
The BCCPA is hosting the 4th Annual Awards ceremony which acknowledges the extraordinary efforts of four special individuals who are being recognized by their peers. Health Minister Terry Lake will be presenting awards for long-service, care provider of the year [home care and residential care] and innovation of the year.
