BCCPA & EngAge BC appoint three new board members

BC Care Providers Association and EngAge BC are pleased to announce the appointment of three new board members –  Ernie Hee (Element Lifestyle Retirement), Sharon Ranalli (Chartwell Retirement Residences) and Andrea Prashad (Amica Senior Lifestyles). As the consolidated industry association representing BC’s Senior Living, Wellness and Care sector, these appointments will ensure all members of the sector have a strong voice in our advocacy, education research and event planning.

Ernie Hee – Element Lifestyle Retirement

Ernie was a partner in a national law firm’s Vancouver office until December 31, 2018. He advised on all aspects of commercial real estate and corporate/commercial law and has a varied client base which includes well known REITS, developers, pension funds, limited partnerships and private individuals. Ernie also acted for European real estate investors and has acted for prominent U.S. investors and real estate funds on various acquisitions in B.C.

Ernie has practiced law for over 40 years in Alberta and B.C. and has closed transactions totaling in excess of a billion dollars in his career. His skill as a negotiator and closer is well known in the real estate community.

Ernie was a Board Member of and Legal Counsel to the Vancouver Chapter of NAOIP.

Sharon Ranalli – Chartwell Retirement Residences

With Chartwell since 2009, Sharon’s national role includes oversight for corporate marketing, brand stewardship, corporate communication strategies, reputational risk and corporate media spokesperson.

In 2015, she helped launch Chartwell’s charitable partnership with Wish of a Lifetime Canada which is presently being re-established as the Chartwell Foundation in 2022. It was with great pride in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, that Sharon was able to support the launch of CaRES as a founding Board member.

A member of the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) Board of Directors from 2012-2022, including service three terms as Chair of the Board, Sharon is also a member of the OLTCA Advocacy and Communications Committee.

Previously, Sharon worked for over 15 years as a political advisor at the federal, provincial and municipal levels of government in the areas of public policy, strategic communications, community outreach and media relations.

Andrea Prashad – Amica Senior Lifestyles

Andrea has a 15-year track record of guiding organizations in healthcare, real estate and retail through periods of high-growth and disruption to their industry/strategy that require fresh ideas.  She has experience in managing multiple functions and is currently the Senior Vice President, Resident Experience and Risk Management at Amica Senior Lifestyles.

Andrea holds a law degree (LL.B) and a Master’s in Public Policy, Administration and Law (MPPAL). She completed the Governance Essentials Program, Institute of Corporate Directors at the University of Toronto as well as the Strategic Management of Regulatory & Enforcement Agencies Program from Harvard University.
