HCA Training Program: Celebrating a milestone with our latest graduating cohort

Last Thursday, BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) held its virtual ceremony for our latest HCA Training Program graduates, delivered in partnership with Discovery Community College. Our graduating students hail from various communities throughout the province – North Island, South Okanagan, West Kootenays, Nanaimo, Kelowna, and Vernon.

BCCPA and EngAge BC congratulates all graduates for their hard work and dedication to completing the program. We recognize their commitment to choosing a career path in caring for others and wish them the best of luck in their next chapters as Health care Assistants (HCAs).

This graduating cohort marks a celebratory milestone of our HCA Training Program, now reaching over 250 graduates since beginning the initiative in 2020. With a 90% graduation rate to date, the HCA Training Program continues to be successful in providing vocational training and guidance for individuals interested in pursuing careers as HCAs. This program, as well as BCCPA’s other vocational programs, has received $6.1 million in grant funding overall and continues to help address the increasing need for workers in the seniors care sector.

Our latest cohorts in Kelowna, Nanaimo and Parksville began last month and is slated to complete next summer. Upcoming cohorts in South Okanagan and West Kootenays will commence on January 18, 2023. BCCPA is still accepting applications for the South Okanagan and West Kootenays opportunities. Those interested in applying can complete BCCPA’s training intake request form by clicking here.

We would like to thank Ministry of Advanced Education & Skills Training and Community Workforce Response Grant (CWRG), Discovery Community College, Stenberg College and SafeCare BC for their ongoing support of the HCA Training Program.
