Seniors Living Expo & Job Fair: Announcing Andrea Derban as keynote speaker

Join Andrea Derban, Public Health Nurse, for her presentation titled What does Australia, the Pandemic, and Heart Attacks have to do with Influenza this November 5th at the Seniors Living Expo. Andrea will explore what to expect this flu season in the context of the pandemic, with a focus on the potentially life-changing consequences of not being prepared. Prevention is the key!

Andrea Derban is a seasoned Public Health Nurse with over 31 years of experience in 3 of BC’s 5 Regional Health Authorities as a Communicable Disease Control Nurse. In 2003, she moved on to the BC Center for Disease Control (BCCDC) to become the first Vaccine Educator in the province and in 2009 she went to the BC Ministry of Health to Manage the BC Immunization Committee. Andrea had the privilege of working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist with the First Nations Health Authority for 7 years before moving back to the BCCDC in 2021 to assist with the response to the overdose crisis in B.C. She is passionate about the Social Determinants of Health, which is why she believes in the value of vaccination programs which protect our most vulnerable and marginalized populations. In her spare time, Andrea works with ImmunizeBC to support health care professionals in their immunization competencies. In her free time, she spends her time skiing, walking the seawall, and reading. She lives in the West End with her partner.
