Bursary recipients share their #BCCPA2019 experience

This year, BC Care Providers Association awarded bursaries to six students currently enrolled in full-time post-secondary programs in Canada.

Students received an all-expenses paid experience at the 2019 Annual Conference in Whistler from May 26th – 28th, where they heard from high-profile speakers, networked with industry leaders, and gained insight into best practices and new models of care and technology in the continuing care sector.

Here’s what they had to say about their #BCCPA2019 experience:

Thank you for the wonderful conference. It was an incredibly well-organized event. Loved to connect with everyone, especially the BC Care Providers staff. You guys were awesome.”

Thank you so much for the warm reception you greeted me and my fellow students with. It is sometimes difficult to be a stranger at such places, but I noticed your smiling faces even in passing. Thank you very much once again.”

Risper Frimpong, Royal Roads University

Thank you once again for a lovely experience at the conference. I am already missing being in Whistler!”

Kishore Seetharaman, Simon Fraser University

It was an amazing experience. I can’t thank you enough. It was a career highlight for me.”

Dalyce Gouin, Douglas College

Words cannot express how this weekend impacted my life. From the dynamic speakers, exhibitors, laughter, kind strangers and heartwarming senior stories, to the many new friends I made, including all of us professional students – I had one of the most memorable experiences of my life. So much gratitude and appreciation to you and other leadership members including Daniel Fontaine, Mike Klassen and Michael Kary for creating this opportunity of growth and excitement in seniors care. A special thank you to Michael Kary for taking the time to sit down with us all at the BBQ and once again at Roundhouse during dinner and indulge in some insightful conversations.”

Shalini Gambhir, University of Regina

I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your hard work. Without you, I wouldn’t have been able to experience and learn all that came with this conference. I’m so happy that students are included and hope more students in the future will get this opportunity! This conference inspired me so much and I’m excited to share what I learned with my colleagues and professors. Hope I’ll cross paths and reconnect with you again someday. Best wishes!

Vivian Ling, Langara College
