Announcing 2023 BC Care Provider of the Year | Long-Term Care winner, Leanna Maltesen (Woodgrove Manor, Trillium Communities)

Every year, the BC Care Provider of the Year Award celebrates individuals who deliver exceptional care and support to seniors. BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) is pleased to announce Leanna Maltesen, Activities Coordinator at Woodgrove Manor (Trillium Communities), as the 2023 award winner in the Long-Term Care category.

Leanna began her career at Woodgrove Manor in 2003 as a Registered Care Aide and later became their Activities Coordinator after her mother left. Every day, Leanna dedicates her work to create an environment that is sensitive to residents’ needs and ensures that they receive the care they truly deserve. As an Activities Coordinator, Leanna uses her puppet friend ‘Berry’ to communicate with residents, many who are nonverbal, bringing comfort and joy to them. She is constantly thinking outside of the box, ensuring that activities are enjoyable for residents in a way that accommodates their needs. Continuously advocating for resident-centred care, Leanna’s commitment to quality is impeccable.

“[She] always enjoys bringing encouragement, enthusiasm, and appropriate humor to the workplace. [She is] an excellent team player who takes pride in the quality of her work ethics.”

Leanna accepted her award at the 10th Annual BC Care Awards on February 27th at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, B.C.
